New Delhi: Pakistan-origin Bollywood starlet Laila Khan like many other actors of the film industry rechristened her name as Reshma Patel and started her career by imitating the late Divya Bharti’s style.

It is to be noted that, at the time of 1990s, Bharti’s acting career was at peak but she mysteriously died in April 1993. Laila, who used to live at her Oshiwara flat, loved watch Divya Bharti’s film and tried to adopt Divya’s acting style.

Laila Khan had started her career from the film ‘Wafa’ in 2008 in which she played a character of unfaithful wife opposite Rajesh Khanna. Her first director Rakesh Sawant had given her a break in two movies which could not do well at the box office.

Laila’s career graph was going down by the time. But still she was a huge paid actress at that time. Her family assets were more than Rs 3 crore. The cost of her bungalow at Igtipuri was more than Rs 70 lakhs, while her Oshiwara flat was itself not less than a crore. She owned a shop of Rs 40 Lakh in Andheri’s posh Lokhandwala complex and another flat was at Meera road which costs Rs 50 lakh at that time.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was searching Laila Khan after finding her alleged role in the Mumbai and Delhi High Court blasts. Laila Khan’s car was recovered from Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir when she went missing from Mumbai. Pervez Tak, the key accused in her kidnapping had given the news to probe agencies that she fled to Dubai.
