Lucknow north seat in UP is a high profile seat as senior BJP leader and Lucknow MP Lalji Tandon’s son Ahustosh Tandon alias Gopalji makes debut from here as a party candidate. The constituency goes to polls in the fourth phase. Gopalji’s father Lalji Tandon has thrown all his weight to ensure the victory of his son. Gopalji is pitted against Neeraj Bora of the Congress and Abhishek Mishra of the Samajwadi Party.

Interestingly Abhisek Mishra, an ex-IIM teaching faculty, happens to be the special choice of UP Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav. It is believed that Mishra’s presence in the electoral battle field of Lucknow north constituency is bound to dent the poll prospects of the BJP candidate.

The BJP candidate banks on the influence of former Prime Minster and Charismatic leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee who represented Lucknow in the Lok Sabha from 1991 to 2009.

After the delimitation, a new assembly constituency Lucknow north has been created. Lucknow has been the fiefdom of the BJP. In 2007 all the seats falling under Lucknow were won by the BJP candidates.
