Patna: RJD supremo Lalu Prasad on Wednesday urged the Centre to set up two central universities and upgrade Patna University as a central university in view of paucity of higher education infrastructure in Bihar.

"The Centre should set up two central universities at Gaya and Motihari and upgrade Patna University as a central university to address inadequate higher education infrastructure in Bihar", Prasad told reporters.

Unlike other states, Bihar has no central university to cater to the aspiration of higher education of bright students, Prasad said.

He said that he had spoked to the Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal on phone on Wednesday and requested him to consider his demands.

Sibal had assured that he would look into the demands, the RJD supremo said.
