Lambi (Muktsar): Addressing a rally in Lambi on the last day of the election campaign in poll bound Punjab on Saturday (28th January), Shiromani Akali Dal leader and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal lashed out at UPA government in the Centre.  He accused the former Chief Minister and Congress leader Captain Amarinder Singh of creating rifts within the Badal family.

Getting emotional over his kin joining opposition camps, Badal talked about his brother Maheshinder Singh who has joined the Congress and his nephew Manpreet Singh Badal, who has joined the third front or the Sanjha Morcha comprising of the People’s Party of Punjab, BSP and other rebels of different parties.

“The Congress leadership is aware of the fact that they can’t succeed in their political game plan as long as I am holding the lever of power in the state. This is the reason why they are attempting to create rift within Badal family,” said Punjab CM.

Launching scathing attack on Captain Amarinder Singh, Badal questioned the initiatives taken by the Congress leader for the development of the state, nation and his own constituency. He said the Congress is stunned after going through the manifesto released by the SAD, which has been largely successful in connecting the masses with the party.

Hitting heavily at Congress, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal termed opposition leaders as ‘Barsati Mendhak’ (monsoon frog) as they approach the people only at the time of elections. In a bid to woo the electorate, Badal talked about Provident Fund facility to the farmers in the state, medical insurance to the tune of Rs 2 lakh people, computers and laptops made available to the students by his government. He also mentioned about the Rights to Service Act meant for eradicating unemployment in the state.

Outlining the achievements of Akali Dal-BJP government in Punjab during last five years, Parkash Singh Badal said, “The government has done a lot for the betterment of the state, there are still many areas where we need to focus. In order to overcome the obstacles in the path of development, it is highly required to vote the Akali-BJP alliance to power.”
