Patna: Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar said the land reform and aid to farmers should be the main agenda of the NDA government in Bihar, while speaking at a forum organised by Dainik Jagran here on Friday. The agenda of the forum was ‘challenges towards development and governance'.

While Meira Kumar appreciated women's empowerment and women's reservation in local bodies, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said his government has been able to change the face of the state through several programmes and public dialogue.

“Earlier, the state was associated with various disappointments but today one can find many opportunities here,” said Nitish while addressing the forum.

“A unanimous resolution passed from both the Houses of the state Legislature seeking special status for Bihar has been sent to the Centre and it should be accepted immediately,” demanded Nitish.

The Chief Minister highlighted that listening to the grievances of people is the step towards good governance.

“Listen to people, understand and accept it. There is no advance solution for every problem. We have spoken with those who are suffering from problems and only then we resolved it. We have gone to people with an open mind. We know how to fight with a problem,” said Nitish.

“Don’t be in this misconception that if you have got the majority you can do whatever you like. You have to seek majority every day.  First, you have to build a consensus among your ministers and then the party,” he added.
