Mumbai: Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar who has always been an ardent fan of Sachin Tendulkar heaped praises on the master blaster for scoring the 100th ton of his career.

The 81 year old singer, who considers Sachin as her son, has hit out at the critics who have time and again poked fun at him and often advised him to take retirement from international cricket.

Taking a dig at the critics who have often spoken about Sachin’s retirement Lata asserted, “I have also faced rough patches in my career. At a point I almost decided to leave the profession but then I fought back. Sachin too was going through a similar phase.”

Having played for more than two decades now, 38 year old Sachin scored 100th ton of his career in the Asia Cup match against Bangladesh in Dhaka. With this he became the first batsmen in the history of International cricket to score 100 centuries.

The veteran singer added, “People were poking fun at him for failing to score the 100th ton. As if the 99 centuries he had scored so far had no significance. This clearly hints at the fact that as a nation we don’t respect a sportsman like Sachin Tendulkar.”
