When we think of music, the first name that appears in mind is Lata Mangeshkar, notably known as ‘Nightingale of India’. Lata is the most celebrated playback singer of the country who has recorded songs for over thousand Hindi films and has sung songs in over 36 regional and foreign languages.
She started her career at a tender age of 13 in 1942 with the song ‘Naachu Yaa Gade, Khelu Saari Mani Haus Bhaari’ in Kiti Hasaal. However, the song was dropped in the final cut. Her first Hindi song was ‘Mata Ek Sapoot Ki Duniya Badal De Tu’.
At the age of 83, this indubitable queen of playback music remains a genuine threat for all her counterparts. Her long time commitment and an eagerness to work more and more despite all odds is a great source of inspiration for the emerging talents.
