The train, with 10 wagons carrying 50 lakh litres of water reached the Maharashtrian town 12 hours late than the scheduled time. When asked about the delay, a senior official said that this was supposed to be a trial run and speed was not taken into consideration.

From Latur station water was circulated to a nearby well through cement pipes laid along the tracks. Later, it was carried to a treatment plant for making it fit for consumption.
