Lava is expected to launch the new batch of Android One smartphones on July 14 , 2015 at a mid-range price of Rs 12,000.

There’s no official announcement about the launch from the Google or Lava. The most significant part of the story is that the new Android One phone from Lava will be available online as well as offline.

Laval’s Android One device will have 2GB of RAM and a 5-inches screen. Micromax, Karbonn and Spice introduced their own products based on the Android One platform last year.

Earlier, the companies had to take the smartphones from Chinese original device makers and had no control over the hardware and software. They were not also part of the design process.

Google has developed the new phone in collaboration with Lava and MediaTek. The chip maker had its processor in last year’s Android One phones too.

The first Android One devices was marketed in India as cheap alternatives for people who had never used a smartphone before.

The Lava handset is said to be aimed at users who’ve handled a smart device before. Going by the cost, it won’t cater to the entry level market either.

This Lava phone might have a radical shift in intent from the initial vision for Android One phones. But it makes sense financially to provide a budget mid-range smartphone with decent good specs.
