Kanpur: Agitated over alleged murder of their colleague, city lawyers went on an indefinite strike on Tuesday seeking action against the accused, who include a father-son duo of press photographers.

Body of lawyer Ramendra Narayan Mishra (47), who had gone missing from near his house at 80 Feet Road on Saturday, was found lying on the terrace of a private apartment on Monday.

16 injuries were found on Mishra's body in his post-mortem report and according to DIG Amitabh Yash, he is suspected to have been killed over a property dispute.

6 persons, including a woman and a father-son photo journalist duo, have been arrested on the basis of the FIR filed by victim's brother, Yash said.

Mishra was former vice-president of the Kanpur Bar Association and his murder has caused sharp reactions from the lawyer community.

With name of two photo journalists surfacing in the matter, lawyers also staged a demonstration outside Press Club office on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in the city and additional security personnel have been deployed in wake of the situation.
