London: Magazine mogul Hugh Hefner believes that James Bond author Ian Fleming was inspired by Playboy bunnies when he wrote about the women in his books.

The 85-year-old business magnate says that the glamorous leading ladies of the hit franchise were inspired by the models of his adults’ only publication.

"I know that Fleming was influenced by Playboy. What are Bond girls but bunnies really?" said Hefner.

Hefner is also delighted about the documentary based on his life after a planned biopic with Robert Downey Jr. fell through.

"Robert did contact me. It was after 'Iron Man'. Brian Grazer was looking at it and I met with Diablo Cody but it's reverted back to us. That's something we'll be looking at," he added.

The documentary titled 'Hugh Hefner: Playboy Activist and Rebel', looks at the icon's life through the decades.

Hefner said, “It’s nice. That someone has documented the other part of my life. I'm not saying it's the full story but it is the lesser told one. I know my life remains controversial to some. But I tried to make a difference, and I think I've managed to do that.”
