Panipat: A female lecturer in Panipat was duped of nearly Rs 3 lakh in the name of Commonwealth Games. Vandana Ahuja received an e-mail on February 24, 2011 which promised prize money worth Rs 3.20 crore. The lecturer was promised that she would be rewarded the prize money for being selected among a few women who took interest in the CWG.

The Lecturer, who thought that she would earn in crores by giving a few lakhs, was cheated of Rs 2.91 lakh during the Commonwealth Games. Although the Games had ended, she did not realize that she had been cheated.

When she had received the email, she was asked to fill an online form and then in the name of processing fees, she was asked to deposit Rs 2.91 lakh, which she lost within a month.
When the lecturer went to Delhi to collect the prize money she could not find the given address.  Only then the lecturer realised that she had been cheated.

Vandana complained about it to the Superintendent of Police. DSP Virender Kumar, Cyber crime, has been investigating into the matter.
