Kolkata: The Left Front on Saturday accused the Trinamool Congress-led West Bengal government of politicising the educational institutions in the state by imposing unnecessary party control on them.

Accusing the Mamata government of filling up key posts in the educational institutions with people close to the party, Left Front Chairman Biman Bose announced on Saturday that the party will take up a campaign protesting politicisation of education from November this year.

Bose appealed the teachers and student associations and the general public to join hand in a bid to prevent high-handedness of the state government.

Terming the Ordinance issued by the government appalling, Bose said, “The institution of Registrar Graduate Constituency will come to an end after the move. Moreover, the changes will bring nothing for former graduates and former teachers in the Executive Committee of the University.

The Ordinance of the state government will further put a full stop on the institution of students’ union elections in the educational bodies and committees in the state.
