Kolkata: In a move to put both the Centre and the State Government in the dock over the price rise of petroleum products, the Left Front leaders in West Bengal will take to the streets on Tuesday. The Left leaders along with the party workers will stage protests in Kolkata.

CPI (M) state leadership informed that party stalwarts Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Biman Bose and other senior members will address the rally at Aayakar Bhawan in Dharmatalla.

It is worth mentioning that the ruling Trinamool Congress is the part of United Progress Alliance (UPA), therefore the Left protest will target both its political rivals.

The Left Front is mounting pressure on the State Government to check the price rise by subsidizing the petroleum products. They held the Union Government and the state government equally responsible for the miseries of people.

However, the Left Front has welcomed the State Government’s decision to reduce the sales tax on LPG cooking gas.

All the Left-backed trade unions will participate in the protest against the price rise.
