"Our K series has been a big hit with consumers over the past year, with more than 3 million users. This latest addition will bring an even richer and immersive entertainment experience to the users," Lenovo India Executive Director (Mobile Business Group) Sudhin Mathur told reporters here.

He added the device will come with its proprietary technology, TheaterMax.

Lenovo's K series contributes one-third to its total (including Motorola) smartphone sales in India, he said.

The Android Marshmallow-powered device features a 5.5-inch display, 1.8 Ghz octacore processor, 32GB internal storage (expandable upto 128 GB), 13MP rear and 8MP front camera and 3,500 mAh battery.

It will come in 2 variants -- 3GB RAM (Rs 11,999) and 4GB RAM (Rs 13,499). The company has also tied up with IT peripherals maker, Amkette to offer bundled offers for Evo Pad 2 as a precision controller for TheaterMax gaming.

India is one of the world's largest smartphone markets. In the first quarter of 2016, 23.5 million units of smartphones were shipped in India, registering 5.2 percent growth over the same period last year, as per research firm IDC.

Lenovo (and Motorola) ranked fourth in the tally with 8.2 percent share of the shipment, after Samsung (26.6 percent), Micromax (12.6 percent) and Intex (9.2 percent).

In a separate statement, Lenovo India said it has roped in Rajesh Thadani as Head and Executive Director Consumer, Online and eCommerce. Thadani, who will report to Lenovo India Managing Director Rahul Agarwal in his new role, was previously heading the company's Indonesia business.

In his new role, Thadani will lead the growth strategy to further strengthen Lenovo's growing consumer segment, Lenovo India said in a statement. In addition, he will also be responsible for Lenovo's strategy in e-tail and the owned online store, it added.
