Mumbai: Designers Jatin Verma and Shradha Murarka (Vizyon) changed the whole meaning of gothic with their dark yet glamorous collection meant for parties, showcased at the Lakme Fashion Week here Friday. Both the collections had dark shades like black, midnight blue, stone grey and dark purple. A general theme of bling ran through all the clothes making the garments an ideal choice for the red carpet.

As promised, designer Jatin Verma brought his 'Dark Angels' to the ramp. The designer showcased a range of gowns and short dresses with special emphasis on shoulders.

"With these clothes, I would want to target the red carpet in India. Of course we will add colour according to what people want," he said after the show.

Even though no props were used during the show, the atmosphere was made eerie with the choice of music. The colours also were dark ranging from black, purple and maroon. All the garments had similar silver and gold embellishments on them, making the line one of its kind.

The gothic tone was carried forward by Shradha Murarka, whose dresses were also dark and many had both long and short tassels on them.

Talking about the line, she said, "The clothes are for a festive season. We have used a lot of dark hues but all of them sparkle making them different and unique."

Meanwhile, filmmaker Karan Johar and Kareena Kapoor attended designer Anushka Khanna's show held simultaneously at the talent box.

Pia brings spirit of Mexico alive at LFW
Meanwhile designer Pia Pauro tried to bring the spirit and feel to Mexico to Mumbai through her fashion show at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 here Friday. Actress Monica Dogra added to the zing of the show.
The collection was named 'Espiritu de Mexico', and Pauro said: "The styling is inspired from Acapulco vibe of the 1970s."
The stage was simple, and the music didn't do much to reflect the Mexican feel of the garments. However, the collection was vibrant with exotic prints in a range of bold colours to earthy ones.
Monica, who was seen in "Dhobi Ghat", walked as the showstopper wearing a one-shoulder, blingy jumpsuit in a mix of silver and gold. She was all praise for the line.
"Pia's collection was very edgy, feminine and graceful. I love the prints and the colours she used for the outfits," she said.
