Ropar: Punjab Congress President Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday did not rule out formation of a broader political alliance in the state against the SAD-BJP government saying everything was possible in politics.

He said his appeal to different opposition parties to join hands with the Congress was only for a specific purpose of jointly waging a struggle against "anti-people" policies of the SAD-BJP government in Punjab.

Amarinder, however, said "everything is possible in politics and I do not rule out a broader political alliance in the state."

His appeal to opposition parties was aimed at securing their participation in the state-wide protest to be organized by the Congress from September seven against "anit-people" policies of the SAD-BJP government, he told reporters here.

The Congress leader said he had spoken to several political leaders including Manpreet Badal of the People’s Party of Punjab, Joginder Dayal of the Communist Party of India and Avatar Singh Karimpuri of the Bahujan Samaj Party in this regard.

All of them had shown concern about the plight of common man who had been burdened with heavy taxes by the coalition government, Amarinder said.
