Chandigarh: The livestock census in Punjab would commence on September 15 on which a sum of Rs 7.29 crore would be spent.

It was stated by Punjab Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Gulzar Singh Ranike after a meeting with senior officers of the department, an official release said.

He said arrangements for the 19th livestock census have been completed and 5,000 veterinary inspectors, counting officers and 800 supervisors have been deputed for this task.

Ranike appealed to people to coordinate with the government in this endeavour, so that rational policies for the development of dairy farming and welfare schemes for the livestock could be framed.
