Patna: Calling for a CBI inquiry the LJP on Friday alleged large-scale irregularities in the distribution of funds under MNREGA and Disaster relief amount under the Disaster Management department in Bihar's Nalanda, the home district of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

"There have been large-scale irregularities and loot of funds meant for Relief under Disaster Management department and distribution of funds under MNREGA," State LJP president Pashupati Kumar Paras and national General Secretary Satya Nand Sharma jointly told a press conference.

The LJP leaders called for a CBI probe into the matter.

They alleged that under Parthu Panchayat of Ekangarsarai block, there were several beneficiaries either dead or having deserted from the village to other places, but they were shown as recipients of relief amount under Disaster Relief Funds.

Even under the MNREGA, a village head, whom they alleged to be a relative of a political bigwig, embezzlement of funds worth around Rs 5.74 lakh had taken place as no development works like construction roads or culverts were visible under the Panchayat, the LJP leaders charged.

They demanded that the state government order a CBI probe into these irregularities.
