Advani's nameplate was found missing from his usual room in the Parliament complex on June 5, setting off rumours about the former deputy prime minister losing his privileges in the party.

Advani occupied room number 4 on the ground floor of Parliament House, next door to the BJP's Parliamentary party office, at room number 2.

According to sources, Advani found his nameplate missing from the office on the second day of the Parliament session. The room had been allotted to Advani in the 15th Lok Sabha, as acting chairman of the National Democratic Alliance.

As per reports, there used to be two name-plates outside the room – one with the name of Advani and the other with the name of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. While the latter's nameplate remained mounted on the wall, Advani’s was missing.
