Ahmedabad: The words spoken by senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader LK Advani about Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on the occasion of 166th birth anniversary celebrations of Former Prime Minister, late Morarji Desai may land him in a fresh controversy.

Counter questioning a reporter, Advani said, “What is this VHP?”

Advani was in Gujarat to attend the jubilee celebrations of the late PM on Wednesday. However, talking to the reporters at the Surat Airport on Wednesday afternoon, Advani declined to comment on the prime ministerial candidature of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and if there was any rift between the party leadership and former Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa.

Although when the reporter asked if he is attending the VHP programme being organized at Valsad, Advani raised a counter question, “What is this VHP? I have come at the behest of Morarji Desai’s grandson Madhukeshwar.”

He said, “Masdhukeshwar had accompanied me in my 40 day anti-corruption yatra and had invited me long ago for the event.”

When asked about the return of Modi to national politics and party president Nitin Gadkari’s statement on his being the prime ministerial candidate, He said, “Only party president or spokesman can comment on the issue.”
