New Delhi: Announcing that the crisis in the BJP triggered after LK Advani’s resignation is over, party president Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said that party veteran has agreed to withdraw his resignation from all top posts of the party.

Advani desires to be made PM: Sources

A formal statement in this regard was made by Rajnath Singh at Advani’s residence in New Delhi. “He accepted our request to withdraw his resignation,” he said.

“Advanji has said that any decision of the party he will accept," Singh said.

The BJP Parliamentary Board, which met on Monday, passed a resolution describing Advani as its "leader and guide"."That role inevitably belongs to him. The Party and nation needs his sage advice and guidance today more than ever before. The Parliamentary Board decided to reject the resignation of Advaniji," it said.

"Mohan Bhagwat (RSS chief) has asked him to accept the Parliamentary Board decision and continue to guide the party. Advanji has accepted Mohan Bhagwatji's advise," the party president said.

A Parliamentary Board meeting is likely to be convened soon to address the party’s veteran’s concerns.

The sources say that BJP leadership assured Advani that any decision on prime ministerial candidate would not be taken without his consent.

A formula to resolve the crisis within the saffron party was worked out after top BJP leaders reached out to Advani at his residence in New Delhi.

Modi welcomes Advani's decision

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday "whole heartedly" welcomed LK Advani's move to accept BJP Parliamentary Board's decision.

"I had said yesterday that Advani ji will not disappoint lakhs of Karyakartas (workers). Today, I whole heartedly welcome his decision," Modi said on twitter.
