Shimla: In a bid to provide better facilities to students and revolutionise the education system in the state, Himachal Pradesh government has decided to provide educational and caste certificates of students at ‘Lok Mitra Kendra’.

The HP government has already issued guidelines to the State Education Board and concerned district officials in this regard.

Sources suggest, once the provisions are in place, the students would not be required to produce original certificates while applying for admission or filling any other application.

The officials would be able to authenticate the forms of applicants on the basis of details available with Lok Mitra Kendra. The government has decided to commence the service from next session onwards.

The state government has also directed the technical institutes to impart training to Lok Mitra Kendra.

In order to provide caste certificates to applicants belonging to ST, SC and OBC category, the state government has directed all the departments of district administrations to download records of Tehsils into the data bank of Lok Mitra Kendra.

“The state government is taking steps to start a new initiative. At the Lok Mitra Kendra, students will be able to get educational certificates apart from caste certificates under SC, ST and OBC category. It would easier for everybody to testify the documents. This procedure will commence from next session onwards,” Rajwant Sandhu, Chief Secretary, Himachal Pradesh said.

The initiative will be of immense help for students coming from far off places and for those who forget to bring their original documents along.
