New Delhi: Both houses of Parliament were disrupted on Tuesday as members protested the petrol price hike and the killing of a police officer in Uttar Pradesh.

The murder of deputy superintendent of police Zia-ul-Haq by a mob on Saturday rocked the Lok Sabha as BSP members created a furore over the issue. The lower house was first adjourned till noon and then when it assembled at 12 pm, the ruckus continued leading to Inder Singh Namdhari, who was in the speaker's chair, adjourning the house for the day.

As soon as the Lok Sabha assembled in the morning, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) members started raising the issue. In the Rajya Sabha too, BSP members trooped into the well demanding president's rule in Uttar Pradesh.

Samajwadi Party members followed them, demanding a rollback in the petrol price hike. Amidst the din, the upper house was adjourned too till noon and later till 2 pm.
