Chandigarh: The Haryana government on Wednesday announced housholds with cooking gas connection in the state will get nine subsidised cylinders a year instead of six.

"LPG consumers of the state will get nine subsidized LPG cylinders per household annually instead of six cylinders," Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said in a statement.

The decision in this regard has been taken for the convenience of the common man, the release said.

In Haryana, there are about 40 lakh LPG consumers and this decision is likely to benefit them.

Last week, the central government had announced to restrict the supply of subsidised LPG cylinders to six per annum in order to cut subsidy burden. Beyond the limit of six, consumers will have to pay market rate for getting the supply which could be more than Rs 700 a cylinder.
