The Election Commission invoked its powers under Article 324 of the Constitution to debar him from holding public meetings, rallies and roadshows.

"The EC has banned Singh's election rallies and roadshows in Bihar and Jharkhand in view of hue and cry raised over his remark," an official said.

The Election Commission also asked him to submit his explanation to it by April 24.

Bihar's Additional Chief Electoral Officer, R Lakshmanan, said that the Jharkhand Police have sought help from the Bihar government to arrest the BJP leader.

A complaint for making an inflammatory speech was registered on Sunday against Giriraj at a police station in Jharkhand's Deogarh city.

A case was also registered against him in Patna on Monday after the Election Commission ordered the Patna district administration to book him.
