The 90-year-old leader will cover 19 constituencies, including those allotted to allies such as Chidambaram and Tiruvallore (VCK) and Vellore (IUML), said a statement released by the party on Tuesday.
Madurai, Tircuhirappalli, Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Thanjavur and Cuddalore are among the constituencies the DMK chief will be covering as part of his campaign for the polls.
He will wind up his electioneering in central Chennai, where his grandnephew and former IT minister Dayanidhi Maran is testing his fortunes for a third time.

The party statement came after Karunanidhi’s son and suspended DMK leader M K Alagiri alleged on Monday that some forces in the party were harassing his father and the party chief was not allowed to take important decisions.

Alagiri had also claimed that he was being unfairly vilified and was suspended because he tried to stop the irregularities and malpractices in the party.
