Sasaram: While pendency of projects under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Schemes (MPLADS) is a common phenomenon across all Lok Sabha seats in the country, the constituency of Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, Sasaram in Bihar, is also not immune to it.

Meira Kumar sanctioned 40 projects from her quota last year she has cleared 18 projects for the current Financial Year. All the projects had to be completed within three months, but they remain incomplete to date.

Reviewing the progress report, Kumar expressed unhappiness over the slow pace of work being carried out in her constituency.

NEP Director, Chaudhary Anant Narain said, “The construction of 16 out of 74 projects sanctioned by the Speaker has completed, while 58 are still pending. Rs 174.12 lakh was allocated for these projects, out of which Rs 63.42 lakh has been spent till now. All the pending work will be completed by next month.”

Santosh Kumar Singh, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Speaker, said, “Madam is serious over the pending projects in her constituency. She directed the district magistrate to get completed the work at the earliest.”

The monitoring of the projects is being strengthened, added the OSD.
