Granting bail, the single bench of Justice HC Mishra asked Koda to surrender his passport. According to his advocates, Koda has already obtained bail in four cases. “This was his fifth and final bail, and he is expected to walk free in a day or two,” his advocate Biswajeet Mukherjee said.

Koda has been in judicial custody since November 30, 2009, after he was booked as an accused in money laundering, illegal investments, rural electrification and other scams. He was the head of the UPA government in the state which was supported by Congress, RJD and JMM, between 2006 and 2008 when the alleged scams surfaced.
