Ranchi: Taking stern action on a petition filed against long staying of Madhu Koda and his aides at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) on the pretext of treatment instead of being in jail, Jharkhand High Court directed to constitute a five-member medical board under the aegis of three Army doctors who will examine their physical fitness.

Former Chief Minister Madhu Koda, Kamlesh Singh, Bhanu Pratap Shahi and Vijay Joshi are in judicial custody and undergoing treatment at RIMS. The medical board will find the cause that made the stay in the hospital for long.

A bench comprising justices R K Merathia and D N Upadhyay slapped a notice on the jail authorities, RIMS administration and the former ministers in this regard.

The bench said that only after their medical examination, it would be ascertained if Koda and other former ministers require further treatment in the hospital. The court proceedings get disrupted owing to their constant absence from the jail.

According to sources, Koda and his aides are hospitalized for a long time and they even disappear from the hospital for a trip to their homes. Also, Madhu Koda has been accused of his extended absence from the hospital.
