Chhattarpur: A citizen of Algeria who was recently caught at the Khajuraho Airport with a live cartridge was sentenced to one-year rigorous imprisonment by a local court on Tuesday.

The Algerian citizen Nehar Raiban was awarded the sentence by Civil Judge Class I, Mahesh Kumar Jha.

Nehar had arrived at Khajuraho to visit the world famous temples. While leaving the city, he was caught by the security personnel at the airport with a live cartridge in his belongings. Later, he was arrested and produced in the court for trial.

Police had earlier seized his passport and informed the Algerian embassy about it.
