Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government on Tuesday declared to conduct a CBI probe into the killing of IPS officer Narendra Kumar. After facing intense uproar in the state legislative assembly, the MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan announced the decision and alleged the Opposition of playing dirty politics over the issue.

On the first day of the assembly session after Holi, the Opposition presented the reports on IPS officer killing and demanded CBI investigation into the case. Amid uproar the Speaker adjourned the assembly. During the adjournment motion, Chauhan announced that his government would recommend a CBI probe into the killing of young IPS officer Narendra Kumar Singh on Holi in Morena district.

Addressing a press conference, Chauhan said CBI probe was being recommended at the instance of the slain IPS officer's wife Madhurani Tewatia. He also said that there was no question of Madhurani, an IAS officer posted in Madhya Pradesh, changing her state cadre.

"I have accepted Madhurani as my sister and as a daughter of Madhya Pradesh", he said.

Condemning the Opposition reaction, Chauhan said the Congress is not concerned about the case and have no sympathy for the deceased family. “The Congress had behaved in a very shabby manner in the state assembly earlier in the day demanding a discussion on an adjournment motion on the IPS officer's killing,” said Chauhan.

His government was ready to discuss the motion but the opposition had "fled" from the House as it was interested only in cheap politics and maligning the fair name of Madhya Pradesh, Chouhan asserted.

Claiming such a situation had never happened before in the history of Madhya Pradesh Assembly, he strongly condemned it.

Chauhan said the MP government has earlier announced judicial investigation into the case by a retired judge.
