Bhopal: Lokayukta Police on Saturday carried out searches at three premises of Deputy Inspector General Prisons in Bhopal and Sagar and claimed to have discovered assets worth crores of rupees, disproportionate to his known sources of income.
    
Acting on a tip-off, Lokayukta sleuths raided Umesh Kumar Gandhi's house on the Old Jail premises here and another location in Bhopal, besides one more at Sagar, Superintendent of Police Siddharth Choudhrary said.
    
So far, police have found fixed deposit receipts of Rs 2.3 crore, Rs 40 lakh investment in LIC, Rs 4 lakh cash and title documents of 25 properties worth Rs 11 crore as declared by the DIG in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Raisen, Katni and Sagar districts, Choudhary said.
    
They have also found gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh.
    
The search would complete soon, he said, adding, exact valuation and details of any bank locker would be known later.
