Bhopal: In what could be treated as a novel initiative, this Gandhi Jayanti the Madhya Pradesh government has decided to hold discussions on development projects and review various government works in 52,000 gram sabhas of the state.

A discussion on Public Services Guarantee Bill and social audit of works of MNERGA is slated to be the top most priority followed by review of the major projects of seven departments. In addition to this, information on the progress of the projects will also be provided.

In a bid to be able to reach to a larger number of villagers, the state government has asked all the Collectors and CEOs of District Panchayats to use all medium of communication to make the villagers aware of the programme scheduled to be held on October 2, 2011.

By holding discussion on government’s top priority, Public Services Guarantee Bill, the state government aims to make the people aware of the various projects covered by this Bill and further educate them about the various departments handing the projects.

It has also been decided to include the review of the plantation drive in the discussion.

The discussion would also ascertain the improvement of vaccination drive in the villages, irregularities in ANM issues, mid-day meals and health facilities.

Villagers would be encouraged to ensure eradication of malnourishment in the villages and a new BPL list would also be announced on that day.
