New Delhi: The Madras High Court is likely to pronounce its verdict today on plea filed by actor-filmmaker Kamal Hassan seeking stay on the two-week ban imposed by the Tamil Nadu government on his film - Vishwaroopam's release in the state.

The court on Monday deferred the verdict asking the actor to explore options of settlement with the government and should engage with the groups opposing the film for finding an amicable solution.

The Madras High Court banned the release of the film till January 28 after Muslim organisations alleged that the film will hurt the religious sentiments of the community.

The Tamil and Telugu versions of "Vishwaroopam", which deals with the adversities of war, were scheduled to release on January 25, but the Tamil Nadu government imposed a curb on it following protests from Muslim groups.

"Vishwaroop", the Hindi version, is slated to release Feb 1.
