New Delhi: Over 5,000 teaching and non-teaching employees of the Gaya-based Magadh University, have not been paid their salary since February 2012. February salary is generally exhausted in the clearance of income- tax (IT).

Notably, when Nitish Kumar government came to power in November 2005, it assured regular salary payment to university and college employees, but the promise is yet to be fulfilled.

The state government has not released the grant for the month of March and April. The government has also decided to keep a close tab on the internal resources of the colleges and the use of such resources, particularly the income generated from self- financing courses like MBA, MCA, BBA, BCA etc.
