Mumbai: The monsoon session of Maharashtra Legislature commenced here on Monday amid noisy protest by the opposition members over Mantralaya building fire, Adarsh scam, and other issues.
The Legislative Assembly was adjourned for an hour amid noisy scenes.
Shiv Sena and BJP MLAs shouted slogans and unfurled banners demanding a statement by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on key issues.
Earlier, the opposition members squatted on the stairs of the Vidhan Bhawan's main entrance, seeking action on, among other issues, Maharashtra-Karnataka border dispute, female
foeticide and farmers' suicides.
