Mumbai: Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan on Sunday greeted the people of the state on the eve of Eid-Ul-Fitr.

"Ramzan Eid marks the completion of the period of fasting during the holy month of Ramzan. Islam attaches great importance to inner purity through forgiveness, prayers and reflection. It is a unique occasion that encourages charity and compassion towards the less privileged," the Governor said in a press release issued by Raj Bhawan in Mumbai.

"I extend my hearty greetings to the people, especially the Muslim sisters and brothers, on the auspicious occasion of Ramzan Eid. May the festival bring happiness, peace and prosperity to one and all," he added.
