Yavatmal: A primary school teacher has been booked for allegedly outraging the modesty of a 13-year- old girl student, police said on Monday.

Kunal Uttamrao Jadhav (30), an Assistant Teacher in the Zilla Parishad Primary School in village Dhonsa near here, was booked on a complaint lodged by the victim, a Std VII student, they said.

"We received a complaint from the victim on Sunday and accordingly registered a criminal offence against the accused under relevant sections of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012," Sub-Inspector Ravindra Jagtap of Pusad Rural Police Station said.

The IPC sections, among others, relate to outraging modesty of a woman and criminal intimidation. No arrest has been made so far.

According to the complaint, Jadhav has been showing obscene photos to the complainant and her female classmate for the last one month. On Saturday, he used sexually-coloured language and allegedly tried to kiss the minor girl, police said.

She reported the matter to her parents, who took her daughter to the police station and lodged the complaint. When contacted Yavatmal Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Naval Kishor Ram said stringent action would be taken against the teacher if he is found guilty in an inquiry ordered by the Education Department.
