New Delhi: The government is mulling to provide more powers to performing Maharatna and Navratna PSUs. Efforts are being put up to rectify few points of memorandum of understanding (MoU). Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Ministry has called a meeting next week for the purpose.

In the prize distribution ceremony of Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), the Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Praful Patel has said that problems related to PSUs will be sorted out soon. He said that the performance of PSUs is encouraging in the recent past.       

Patel has said that there is need for coordination among the PSUs. The government is ready to extend support. PSUs working in different sectors should help one another. He also said that the problems related to signing MoU with the ministry will be sorted out soon.

The President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil has distributed SCOPE prizes for better performance of PSUs. SAIL, ONGC, BHEL, Indian Oil, NTPC, GAIL, Power Finance Corporation was among the recipient of prizes. The President while addressing the gathering has said that public sector companies should ensure transparency and efficiency in the operation so that good opinion formed about India.

The President has said that efficiency, timeline, quality and transparency should be ensured. The event was organised by SCOPE on the occasion of Public sector day. 

The President has sought more capital inflow in PSUs. They should continue their good show and search entrance into new markets. Patil has also said that PSUs should make efforts to enhance the reputation of PSUs to increase their global presence.  

She said that Indian products should reach all corners in the globe and focus should be on brand enhancing measures for India.
