Under the partnership announced on Wednesday, Carzonrent will offer Mahindra e2o (electric car) for self drive in New Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai from October 1, 2013.
Each city will have a fleet size of five e2o's to begin with and the service will be gradually expanded in all metropolitan cities, the companies said.
Commenting on the development, Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Private Ltd CEO Chetan Maini said, "Our association with Carzonrent will bring Mahindra e2o and the concept of 'Mobility as a service' together, giving customers an opportunity to realize the endless benefits associated with this innovative solution."
Induction of e2o into the self-drive fleet has been undertaken to capture the huge potentially untapped organized self drive market and make it cost-effective for the consumers, the companies said in a statement.
"At one third the cost compared to other self-drive cars, the e2o will be a game changer in the self-drive business model and will provide a complete new experience to the city commuters," Carzonrent (I) Limited managing director & CEO Rajiv Kr Vij said.
With the inclusion of Mahindra e2o in Carzonrent self- drive fleet, the company is bringing forth an eco-friendly initiative in the Indian travel market, he added.
