Patiala: Punjab revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia on Wednesday demanded an apology from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his remark that 7 out of 10 youths in the state have a drug problem.

"No Congress leader has ever apologised to Punjabis so far for the anti-Sikh riots of 1984," Majithia said adding that Rahul should apologise to Punjabi community for "deliberately tarnishing" the image of Punjabi youth.

Talking to the reporters in Patiala at a mass marriage function, Majithia said "it exposed the immaturity level of a person, who was being propagated by the Congress as 'candidate' for the post of prime minister."

Rahul at a function of Panjab University in Chandigarh recently had claimed that seven out of ten youths in the state are drug addicts which later sparked a row.
