New Delhi: The Finance Ministry is going to disclose the contentious file in which social activist Anna Hazare had been criticized severely. Interestingly, on the orders of a top official of the ministry, the government website had termed Anna as ‘lunatic’.

The Central Information Commission (CIC) in its order has said that the entire file along with the officer’s note should be made public.

In fact leading Hindi daily ‘Dainik Jagran’ had revealed that a letter has been posted on the ministry website mentioning Hazare as a lunatic. Remarkably this is one of the 15,000 letters that the government had received seeking suggestions on the Lokpal Bill.

Remarkably, the letter was posted on the website of DoPT (Department of Personnel and Training) on the directives of the then senior finance ministry official.

Noted RTI activist Subhash Chandra Agrawal had sent a copy of Dainik Jagran to DoPT enquiring about the details of such a letter. Though DoPT agreed that orders had come from a senior finance ministry official, it refused to give a copy of the officer’s note.

CIC chief Satyendra Mishra has directed DoPT to make available the noting of orders issued by top official in this regard.
