Kolkata: Blaming the Centre for delay in implementing the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) agreement, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday assured people to take up the issue with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during her visit to New Delhi on February 22.

Mamata also said that her government is serious on the issue and promised to take concrete steps for the welfare of the people in the region.

According to sources, the Centre is delaying the matter deliberately after Banerjee had threatened the government to withdraw the support to the UPA for not granting enough funds to the state.

Mamata Banerjee also announced that she will visit the Hills once again on February 28.

The tripartite agreement signed on July 18th, 2011 was to be implemented as early as possible.

The Chief Minister also said, “Many projects are being initiated for the development of this region.”

Mamata along with concerned officials will also hold a meeting during her second visit on February 28.

She will also interact with people in Sandakpho. She informed that Sandakpho would be developed as a major tourist spot to boost the tourism sector.
