Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee filed her nomination for state Assembly by-election from Bhowanipore constituency on Friday.

At the time of nomination city Mayor, several senior members of her Cabinet and Kolkata Mayor were present.

Minister of Transport, Subrata Bakshi has vacated the seat for the Trinmool Congress supremo, Mamata Banerjee.

It needs to be mentioned that West Bengal Assembly election was conducted in the month of April and May.

Trinmool Congress came into power with massive majority and Mamata to over the reins of the state. Later she resigned as the Member of Parliament.

As per the rules, within six months of taking over as Chief Minister, it is important to become a member of the State Assembly. However, Mamata decided to fight the assembly election within three months.

The Left Front has put Nandini Mukherjee in the fray against the Chief Minister.

Besides, the Trinmool Congress candidate for the North Basirhat constituency will be ATM Molla, whereas Subodh Ali Ghazi is the candidate from the Left Front.
