Kolkata: The fame of West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, who ended the 34 years of communist rule in the state, has crossed the national boundaries. The Chief Minister has received an invitation from Harvard University, UK, to give lecture on the politics and the culture of West Bengal.

According to the sources, the world renowned University has requested Mamata to give a detailed insight of political changes in the state and to present the myriad hues of West Bengal culture.

The University authorities have not yet declared date and time of the lecture. However, preference for late October and first week of November has been mentioned in the invitation letter. Sources say, Banerjee is considering the invitation.

It needs to be mentioned that last year Mamata was invited by Cambridge University for lecture, but she cancelled the visit in wake of rising political violence in the state.

Besides this, to improve the standard of high education in the state, Professor Sugata Bose of Harvard University has been appointed as the President of the Mentor Committee.
