Kolkata: The newly appointed Mamata government in West Bengal has become a source of attraction for several corporate houses right from Ambanis to the Salem Group for heavy scale investment in the state.

As confirmed by sources, Reliance ADAG chairman Anil Ambani and Salem Group’s Prasoon Mukherjee have shown interest in meeting Mamata Banerjee.

Commerce and Industries minister Partha Chatterjee informed on Saturday that Anil Ambani has shown interest in large scale investment in several areas of Bengal.

He also said that Ambani has also expressed desire to meet Mamata to which she has agreed.

“I also had a word with NRI Prasoon Mukherjee who has assured that his company Salem Group wants to set up an industry in the state without harming the environment”, Partha said.

Chaterjee also informed that prominent domestic and international players are willing to return and invest in the state, while researchers abroad are also keen to revisit Bengal.

According to Writer’s Buildings sources, the state is mulling to organise an industrial conclave before June 20 where several industrialists and corporate houses will be invited to discuss the opportunities in the region with Mamata Banerjee.

Well, this information certainly raises a doubt over Mamata’s ‘Singur Bill’ and thrust with Tatas.
