Kolkata: In a bid to ensure proper welfare for the police officials deployed at several Naxal-hit areas in the state, the Mamata Cabinet on Friday may give its nod for the formation of welfare board for the state police.

According to sources in the Writers’ Building, a proposal in this regard would be presented before the Cabinet meeting. Besides, the amendments made in the Fire Safety Law which were brought into effect after the AMRI Hospital tragedy would also be discussed.

Many Railway and thermal power projects which are delayed due to the lack of availability of land would also be discussed in the meeting. The Chief Minister is likely to discuss the West Bengal Land Acquisition and Rehabilitation Bill.

Meanwhile, the recent issue of renaming Indira Bhawan as Nazrul Bhavan will also be a part of the discussion, added sources.
