Kolkata: Cricketer Sourav Ganguly might be able to execute his dream of a school project in the state capital.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has directed officials to allot around two acres of land to the veteran cricketer in the Newtown area of the capital. The proposal of land allotment was approved in the Tuesday’s cabinet meet.

Sourav will get the land on lease and will have to pay Rs 11 crore to the state government in this regard.

However, Ganguly had to compromise over the location of the land as the cricketer earlier wished to come up with the school in the salt lake area of the state capital. The cricketer was in fact allotted land in the desired area by the Left government in February, 2009 but later the Apex Court cancelled the allotment.
