Kolkata: Even after coming into power in West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee seems keen on retaining Railway Ministry in her party fold till the ongoing projects related to the state are not complete.

Mamata, who will be going to Delhi on Monday to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, is likely to express her desire to retain the Railway Ministry . She has already put forth the name of Minister of State for Railways, Mukul Roy, for the Ministry, said the sources.

Under the prevailing political scenario, the Congress cannot annoy Trinamool chief because major ally in the south ,DMK is unhappy with it and the party faces an uphill task in the forthcoming assembly elections at Uttar Pradesh.

According to the party sources, the Congress is trying hard to take control of the ministry because it wants to appease the voters in Uttar Pradesh through several announcements.

However, Mamata is adamant on retaining the Ministry and has even indicated to seek the help of Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee to put forth her claim emphatically.

Further, there are reports that Trinamool MP Sudip Banerjee may take over as party’s leader in Lok Sabha and his responsibility can be handed over to party MP Dr. Ratna De (Nag). Sudip Banerjee will also be going to Delhi on Monday.
